Default Starting the saff this weekend

Right i got some cheap oil in it while it was stored so, im going to have to run it for a min or two then drain it out and put proper oil in before i used it. Do you think it would be ok to run it while on axle stands etc as seems pointless droping then having to jack it up agian loll. Cant see any problem, but just want a 2nd opinion

Think he's gonna take it out a blast once he gets good oil in it!

If your fussed, you could turn it over by hand a few times to get oil press up before starting, I cant see any harm in doing that as i know its a new engine and that!

Gotta agree, We need a curry appreciatin sticky

Im off to find the curry thread! haha

Be best to crank with the plugs out and a master bar on the crank pulley, so it turns over slow without causing any dammage, but that's just being very cautious

Rhys, with a car that has been laid up for a while I would do as follows:

Firstly make sure your battery is FULLY charged up (put it on trickle charge for 8 - 12 hours).
Then, before starting the engine I would remove the spark plugs, lift off the injector clips (so that injectors are not connected), then crank the engine over for a good while until you see decent oil pressure or until the oil light goes out.....engine should crank over easily with the spark plugs out

Only after doing all of the above would I refit the spark plugs / injector clips and run the engine.

Dont be lazy and do it by hand, you'll not only burn off last nights curry, but you'll not need to disconnect the injectors (thus not breaking anything more than needs be its a cosworth remember )
