Have you ever been charged by your bank????
#122
just looked at doing this as a while back when i was with nationwide i was really bad with money! went through 2 cheque books with out any money in the bank at £25 charge per cheque!!!! took me 3 years to pay it off plus other charges, online banking only shows me the last years statements which still have 90ish pounds worth of charges so i think i'll be sending a letter!!! if it comes through, new turbo and a much needed respray!!!

just spoke to some proper gimp supervisor at Halifax. He got well shirty when I demanded my money back. I pointed out I would rather sort it quickly and easily for both myself and the Halifax over the phone. He agreed to refund 1 (of 4) but wouldnt do the rest. Had a conversation that went around in circles and in the end hung up on him. Rang back to book a appointment in the branch and spoke to a lovely girl who was very interested to find out about all this, gave her a link to the website and told her a bit about it. She said her dad was a lawyer and would be interested lol. Hopefully I can sort this out in the branch with Halifax (they have always been good to me to be fair) because its only £90 (minus the £30 they just returned) but Llyods TSB who stole over £500 off me, coop who done about £300 and my wifes HSBC over £1000! will be hearing from us via the mail lol.

I had a very similar letter from Barclays, stating that they received my letter on the 2nd, and will respond soon. They also mention their complaints procedure.
I'll keep everyone posted
Neil.

this can only be good.
seeing as they charge you on money you owe them which doesn't actually exist. If everyone got all their money out in the same week, there would not be enough to go around, as we have slightly overprinted against what we acually have (gold silver etc). however the us is slightly worse when it comes to that.

Here's my update for what it's worth...
I got a letter back to my "Give me £890 or else" letter saying that they would get in touch.
My deadline came and went, so I sent them a slightly more angry letter, which they appear to have ignored.
If I don't hear from them by friday then I'm going to make a claim against them... Fingers crossed they pay up!!
Neil.

20K+ Super Poster.
i got my standard "we will get back to you by 16th june, please see our complaints leaflet etc. etc." letter back
replied straght back recorded delivery stating that that is not acceptable and giving thema further 7 days to pay before i take legal action.
i'm deffo gonna follow thi right the way thru, historically there's only ever been ONE case that got as far as court, and they ruled against the bank

I was under the impression it very nearly got to court as the bank forgot to reply to summons, BUT they settled out of court by paying DOUBLE what the customer was asking for, simply to stop him appearing in court with them, as I say once it has been ruled in court as illegal, that will set a precedent, this will mean everyone can simp;y ask for their money back..... AFAIK NO bank has (or will) let that happen yet?
