Can you view all your old statements through internet banking? Im with Lloyds tsb, if you can i'll do it that way instead of having to send off for them all
I reckon i must have a few of these charges from a few years ago that i can claim back off them, getting charged £30 just for them to send a bloody letter is a fooking piss take

I was owed £1056.00 from the Halix and they only offered me £256.00 as a good will gesture.
So I wrote the other letters and filed the small claims court summons which cost £120.00 and added the interest @ 8%
And they paid me the lot of £1478.50 about a week before the time was up on the court summons!!
If I was to do it again I would calculate what they owed me and issue the court summons straight away!! Its were its going to end up anyway so why bother sending all the letters just go straight to summons. At least you get to stick the interest on then!!!

It's been about 60 days now since my first letter.
They did send a letter saying they'd send the statements after I confirmed my address etc which I have done, yet nothing.
Which is the letter you send after the 40 days have been and long gone?

i just filed my court claim after refusing there offer as it was £500 short
but i didnt add the 8% as i wasnt sure how the go about it as it asked the daily interest rate etc etc etc and i didnt know what the fcuk they meant
il be satisfied to get it all back without the 8% still tho
and the claims sent know so its too late

Just read an article in last saturdays Daily Mail, classic
A guy was owed £3400 worth of charges and despite sending off the letters and even filing a county court judgement against the bank they still didnt respond So he got a warrant of execution from the court allowing debt collectors to go to the branch and recover items to the value of the claim
From the paper:

From the paper:
Stunned customers at his branch watched as debt collectors seized four computers, two fax machines, and a till filled with cash

There's an awful lot of confusing information being thrown around here for something that should be relatively simple.
The 8% is an APR figure and should be worked out accordingly.

As i have said my charges aint no where nears as high as some peoples so i don't see the point in pushing it.
£400 was good enough for me..... but some people are just never happy with what they get are they

Its hardly fucking about + plus you also get 8% interest...its not about being happy with what they get...its about getting what you're owed!

You have to give any party reasonable notice of your intent, since you are only looking to claim back your charges.
The interest has everything to do with the court procedure and nothing to do with the charges you are claiming.

Its not necessarily about being a mug and going over you're overdraft ... some people have no option. The charge levied by the bank is not proportionate to the costs they inccur.

Money you didn't have? You had it before you they took it surely?
What you're essentially saying is if someone breaks into your house and nicks £700....you'd be happy for them to just pay back £400. If thats the case where do you live
Seriously...I do see what you're saying but don't agree with it...loads of people seem to give in at this stage.

I'm saying if everyone was was more careful they would'nt go over their limit.....
As for you saying you have no choice.. well if you aint got the money don't spend it
As for the charge's... they have every right to charge you for spending money that is not your's... fair enough maybe some of the charges are too high but never the less they will still charge you something.
And yes fucking about taking my bank to court for the POSSIBILITY of and extra £300 isn't worth my time. My bank have always been good to me and i ain't gunna knock them for what i think is a fair offer

Thats exactly my thoughts Dal, we will be looking to get a Mortage this year and I doubt the bank would be impressed if i screwed them for a few hundred quid & then asked to borrow 150k

As for the charges, it has been advised by various government watchdogs that the charges, whilst necessary, are disproportionate to the service provided, and by applictation of various legislation, illegal.
Put it this way - If the going rate to do a headgasket on a cossie was say £500 all in for example, and one company charged you £4000, you'd soon be on here screaming about it, and looking for a way to get your money back.

Received 3 charges at once before .... they took one charge out at their mistake which was £30 which took me into my overdraft, then they made a mistake and thought i didnt have an overdraft so took another £20 and then charged me another £30 for being in the minus again!
Called them up.... they apologised for making the mistake in the first place and i was given the £80 straight away!
I dont spend money i dont have in the bank so have never received charges at my own fault
Sorry but i dont see how the bank can owe you for charges which you know about!
