Spec'ing up my 400bhp Cossie Lump. Have i missed anything?
Im after a little info please as i've started on my YB lump which i want to see close to 400bhp. If the engine builders / people in the know would cast their eye over this please and tell me if im going wrong or have missed anything it would be gratefully appreciated.
Spec:
Bottom End
205 Block
Std Crank
Std Rods
Std Pistons
Std Flywheel
Std sump and baffle
New Main & Big end shells
New rings
Oil pump is being checked, but to be honest ill probably just replace it.
The above will be going to woodmill engineering for the block to be pressure tested, assembled and balanced next week. Should i get new main and big end bolts?
Head
Std Head - Polished ports
Std Cams
Std Valves - Re-seated
New Stem Seals
Currently Std valve springs - Should i change to double?
Advised to use Std head bolts
What Head gasket should i use? Head is 139.1mm but i may have it skimmed (im waiting on an answer), block 207mm
Forced Induction
4x4 Polished Inlet Plenum & Trumpets with spacer
4x4 Exhaust Manifold
T34 .63
Grey 403's or Black 55's - which ever i find first
Airtec RS500 style cooler which i want to order, but what size core and outlets do i need?
Thanks fella's

Go for double valve springs as they rev nicer
Small turbo escort cosworth head gasket

Standard head bolts
2wd exhaust manifold as 4x4 ones are shit

Too many posts.. I need a life!!
Just had a similar spec built at scs, they advised using a 205 block and std head gasket would be pushed at 400, if your paying out for a rebuild why not future proof your self, 200 block 6 long stud and metal head gasket then you wont have to cross your fingers every time you but ya foot down.

as above mate multi layer head gasket with arp head bolts.
the porting on the head is a must to see 400 are you going external wastegate?
everything else is fine cant remember what cams i used but can find out for you.
uprate your clutch aswell and cooling system and use a good breather system from both sides of the block.

Ive gone for a 4x4 water pump and housing. 50mm core alloy rad. The enough do you think?
I was going to breath from both sides of the block upto a catch tank, think thats the same as you have done it?

yeh dont think you can with that manifold but sure someone on here can verify that.
i changed from 50mm to 60mm core rad in mine and a 60mm turbo cooler coz they do run fookin hot and it was a massive improvement.
yeh my breather is both sides to seperator then to catch tank return to sump.

Who you going to get to set the car up ??
Ask there advise as they will tell you mods .
380 on that set up roughly , a t34 won't last as long as you think at 400bhp . Some will say t38 to 400 + bhp .

i think if you called msd and told them your spec they could send you a chip mapped to suit the spec or bhp if spec allows but it will never be as good as a car thats been on the rollers , i am going to buy the 380 spec chip ..run the engine in then take it to msd to get set up as you said theres not many tuners in scotland for cosworths
