thanks costina, yeah they are yellow, will blank the dump valve off first thing, wouldnt i hear a boost leak? its like theres nothing there no noise or anything till 4k then at 5k you will get a kick and thats about it.
the car the engine is destined for was a test bed for motorsport developments so i feel it right for them to test the engine so i will call them tomorrow, however. before getting it set up i want to get some parts for it, without sounding like a novice what sort of bhp could the standard internals of the 205 block handle? and what sort of things would it best to buy to bolt on to get these figures? it needs to be safe. again any help would be great!

as much as possible! as always, but has to be safe, basiclly all my money is getting spent on the shell at the moment, so im using the current saph as a test bed, was going to buy the parts from breakers, then when ive got the set up i want, recon and transfer the engine and running gear to the shell when its ready. so i would be happy with anything over 350 i would be happy with. So if i bought black injectors, t34 and a rs500 intercooler it would be safe at that bhp? what chip/ecu would i need to use and is there anything else i would need to bolt on? im not a bodger but this is just a "make do spec" until i get some more cash together to build a crazy spec engine next year, basicly i need something that wont be killed by the local vtrclub, again sorry for the hassle and thanks for the advice!

yeah i have mate, im not a "daddy bought me a fast car" boy or a "if i put a max power sticker on, it will go faster" .ive grown up around fast cars, and been in the trade for a fair while. ive had a few , just never a standard cosworth, thats why it just seems too slow! the last one i had was a crystal blue e reg with 200 block, polished crank, low comp, big injectors, t4 turbo etc, did a couple of bits and bobs to it but thanks to a pillock ruining it, instead of painting it put me off so looked elsewere to the m5, skyline, evo group for my thrills, just isnt the same. should be still on the restoration forum somewhere. ive always bought them at a good spec allready needing a little tlc and never built one up from a standard engine, just wanted some advice before i did what i thought was right at the time, i would rather ask advice than blow my engine up because i was too stuburn to learn something new, just trying to find my feet back in the ford world again.
anyways anough of the chest puffin, i did what you advised and took a look at the dump valve, turns out there was a split in the diaphram, gave her a full service, fitted a boost gauge and now shes kicking in strong at 4k and running at 0.7 bar....so thankyou for the advice, its not something i would of looked at!

No worries glad its sorted i'd if i was you pick a tuner and stick to there recomendations. MSD would be a good bet.
All of my cossie engines have done mileage latest one 90k and i've just given that the 370bhp treatment runs really well for a 2wd std engine just with the usual piston slap when cold. last one had 110k with a solid 332bhp on greens engine still lives on too.
