Default 4x4 camshaft o-ring, where should it go?

Was going to swap the camshaft o-rings on my 4x4 cossie but the workshop manual only got a pic of the 2wd setup and the 3wd is completly different. Mine didnt have any o-rings fitted either so thats why don't have clue where I should put them, lol.

Does this order seems correct, starting with a bare camshaft?
Bearing
O-ring
"That metal ring with the oil seal"
Woodruff key
Sprocket gear
Bolt

No, the thin o ring seal goes in the groove on the outside of the bearing carrier.

Hmm, do you mean in the same groove as the retainer ring in this pic, ie beneath the ring?

Or on the outside of the retainer ring so that it seals between ring and the grooves in cam shaft caps no1 and no6?

And im sorry for being thick.

Presumably the 4x4 are different to 2wd judging by your piccie, the 2wd have a groove in the centre of the bearing carrier, ie the bearing sits in it's own housing, but your outer race is directly on the head, maybe kit was to do both 2wd and 4wd ?

Yes its quite a bit different compared to 2wd and the workshop manual that contains a very good pic of the 2wd camshaft and how to fit it dont have a pic at all over the 4wd.

I think both 2wd and 4wd use a o-ring but they differ in size.

the place you suggested for the o-ring on 4x4 camshaft is correct

It is there to stop oil running along between the bearing inner race and camshaft ... If the o ring was not there oil could leak out towards the cam sproket
