Default handbrake not working

Calipers are installed now. Cable is free and actuating properly. New pads. Everything should work. When the cable is pulled the arms move but no action on the discs. I can see one side not working but both? When I brake with the pedals the rear brakes work.

I've never had the caliper apart but wth would go wrong?

when you fitted the calipers did you pump the brake pedal first before you pulled the hand brake on.

As above mate - the pads need to be wound in on the auto adjuster, the reason why you wound the piston back before you fitted the pads is that they adjust out with use.

Am off work so not got to Fords for you yet - flippin nasty chest infection ;-(

I sure did since I had to bleed them and swap out the old fluid. I'll see if I have time to take it for a rip tonight and get the brakes to come out and bed.

I'm just used to them working right off the bat. My Jag S-type I did the brakes on the weekend as well. Screwed the piston back in, put new pads in and the handbrake worked right off the bat.

Drove it around again today. Nothing. Am I looking at a caliper rebuild or did I miss something about cossie calipers?

The tabs are aligned in the pistons. Not sure what is up.

Whilst the e/brake is on pump the pedal a few times is worth a try, then release e/brake.

Wait. When I first put these calipers on, just shortly before I put it into storage - I dummy fit them so they wouldn't dangle as I sourced a specific pad. The wheels got out back on to go into storage, no pads.

Someone needed to move my car a bit in the storage unit and the brakes were used with no pads. I screwed the piston back in thinking no harm done. I may be wrong.
