The adjustment screw is on the ecu but like already said you need the car to go on a gas analiser lol.I took my car to a bloke who does 2wd rolling road segt ups and he adjusted my fuel/air mixture so that my cossie is running rich and its been like this for over 2 years now.

To answer your question.. "How do I do it CORRECTLY"..
1) Speak to whoever wrote the chip, ask them what it should be.
2) Get someone with a gas analyser to set the above.

what chip is in the car?
it really does depend on the chip to be honest; it needs to be below 3% CO for an MOT
for example, my MSD chip needs to have the CO at between 2.5-2.7% at idle
if you have wideband you "could" adjust the CO to below 3% and then make sure the fueling is bang on using the wideband on boost - as this is when its "most" important
