Default car just cut out, HELP!

was driving along, rev counter bounced a little then the engine cut out, then wouldn't start, you can here the fuel pump prime and the engine turns over.

THEN 15 minutes later tried it again and it started, ticked over fine, drove off, got about a mile, then the same happened again, left it 15 mins and it started again, pulled up on my drive, left it running and it was fine, turned it off and on several times and all is ok.

Any ideas?

There are many options but the Ign Amp is a high suspect, as are the multiplugs on the firewall.

right after some investigation it appears i am not getting any spark from the coil, changed the coil and the ignition amp, still nothing, would i be right in thinking this is now likelly to be crank sensor?

mate iam having the very same thing happening to mine ad i have tryed everything

changed all the sensors and i mean every single one with no joy
i span it over and a mate of mine wiggled the loom in verious places and still no joy

then after speaking to my mate dan @ rapid ford he said to spin it over and wiggle the 3 multi plugs on the bulk head
wiggled the one closest to the battery and nothing
then the middle and no joy
then the one closest to the turbo and it sprung to life

not 100% if thats the cause as iam waiting to see if it cuts out again will keep you posted
and if you find out anything then please let me know
thanks

i had a similar fault but mine was the fuel filter. You said that the rev counter flickered which means its an electrical fault somewhere. I hope you have sorted it.

Rev counter can be phase/crank sensor

I had the cut out then start again, and firing was all over the place, it was the plug to the crank sensor not plugged in properly

water temp sensors are a pain in the arse. Mine used to misfire when it got warm. I changed it and it was ok.
