Default MK1 4x4 parts and ?'s

What would be the best way for me to get a whole swap? I've also read the transfer case is weak does anyone know if the x type transfer case is any stronger than the mk1?

If anyone has any leads on any of the parts from the prop shaft back please let me know. This is something many people talk about here and a few have tried and failed so you can imagine everyone says I can't do it. I WILL prove them wrong.... I like to blaze my own trail but I'm coming up with very little on finding anything parts wise.

Your best bet would be to find a complete car (very few left! http://www.howmanyleft.co.uk/?q=ford+mondeo+4x4) and swap the lot over. I don't see any other way of assembling the components unless you strike lucky and find someone hoarding the stuff in their shed! It isn't the strongest in the world, so don't expect to put much power through it.

You're not the first person to have this idea and it can be done. It's just there aren't really any benefits. It'll won't aid the performance, or the handling, but will actually make them worse.

Just out of interest why not stick with FWD? What gains are to be had with 4x4?

Even if you'll compromise the car just to be the 'first'? Brave, if somewhat foolhardy.

Good luck with it, make sure you let us know how you get on.

I've got a second car and most of the parts can go in in a day I can pull the drivetrain in 2hrs so I have no fear of compromising the car

By compromised, I mean going for 4x4, rather than fwd. But, hey, it's your project
