Default Cos 4x4 master cylinder brake question

Hi All,

I have put this on my Pug 4x4 thread but hoped this might find a wider audience here. The rear part of the 4x4 master cylinder has a gold coloured star drive plug with a rubber seal (I think) and under it in the hole is a 1.5 ish inch length of metal with a bulb on each end and steel pin sides (the pics explain it better). My question is...what does this do? I want to use the master but not in abs. I cannot get the gold plug in with the 1.5 inch metal bit in the way....any help appreciated.

1.5 inch metal thing is on the far left, the gold plug to the right of it...the second pic shows the hole it goes in to.

Above is the hole.

120 views so far and no replies...I guess I might have to buy another and compare by taking it apart.

if it's on the pump then it's not the abs part of the equation

that's done via the ecu and valve block on the other side of the engine bay

unless it's the very early versions where they were integrated

put it back together again and get the non abs loom that is out there to power up the pump etc

Thanks dojj, I have a loom sorted to run the pump with low fluid warning and correct pressure cut out etc. What's puzzling me is the the master cylinder had the bung missing but I had a bung from somewhere??? I cannot get the bung back in with the funny shaped bit of metal in the way. I may have to bench test it all with some old calipers...that or buy anothe master and see what is what. My pressure pump will sit in the inner wing, away from the master cylinder.

Lol, I know how to fit it all, it is the gold bung that I am struggling with and the little metal thing. It is just
hard to show you all what I am struggling with.

Its difficult to see down the bore and how that bobble bit works.
Very strange indeed. Is there a bit in the bottom that it sits in?

It almost seems that when the piston is all the way in (pedal fully depressed) then it may drop down in to it...but don't know why and not sure it would come out as there is no spring.
