Default St220 aux socket

My mondeo st220 facelift has the Sony stereo but no aux socket in glove box. Can you connect an aux lead direct to stereo or is there a lead that I can buy to attach one?
Thanks

there is a slot in the back of the head unit in the square block of the main loom where you can simply plug in the aux socket

Nice one! will get out stereo and have a look. Was gutted there was no socket in glove box. Took out the glove box to check it hadn't fallen out but it wasn't there so this is excellent news!

all you need to do is find the same socket in another car and you can simply remove it from there and add it to your loom

just finding it is the potential problem

www.talkford.com and ask there in their wanted section if you have difficultly finding it

Thanks but now I'm confused! Is it not just a 3.5 aux lead that connects on the loom that you mention?
I'm not bothered about having an actual socket just wanna plug the iPod into the stereo. Soz if I've missed the point!

On the back of your unit there will be a block connector port. Your unit is aux compatible NOT ready. You can buy the hardware on eBay for about Ł16 all in. You'll need the block plug to 3.5mm female socket (about a tenner) and a simple 3.5mm to 3.5mm male patch lead (a couple of quid). You'll need to route the block plug to socket to where ever you want it. I looked earlier on eBay.

Most kits, and I have bought a few for newer shape fiesta applications, are stated as for use with the cd6000 stereo. I'm not familiar with the Sony plugs so unsure if they are the same or not. That's as far as I can help you.

Thanks for reply. I can't seem to find anywhere that you can buy the lead to plug into the Sony stereo. eBay has some leads but not compatible with the Sony stereo. Any idea where I can get the lead needed? I've been trawling the net with no joy for hours

I've got a loom somewhere withthe connector block in it somewhere and all it is is a small plug that slots inot the radio connector and ends up in an iPod type input

If you can, pull your radio out and get a picture of the connection sockets on the back, I'll then compare it to the ford 6000cd unit connections and if it's the same I would buy the eBay kit and take a chance. The plug I'm on about just has 2 wires.

Thanks chaps. I'll get a pic on in the week. Really appreciate the help. Btw I know its been asked a thousand times but I can't find a definate answer, 2004 facelift, will a double din fit straight in with fitting kit to finish off with no cutting of panels etc required?
Thanks again

Facelift with the cleaner dash and square edged radio will take a double din head unit, but I've found that certain kits sit too far forward and don't slot in all the way home.

Thanks guys. Will consider that as an alternative if I can't get this lack of aux socket sorted. Can't believe that nowhere (that I can find) on her majesty's web is there direct reference to this lead/loom that is needed. Loads on the older players but not the Sony one

Update. Found this

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...#ht_5273wt_810

When I removed glove box there is a lead behind with a similar looking connected that isn't plugged into anything. Is this anything to do with the aux so this lead might fit?
