Are you after buying one or is the company suppling one . Great car. The 130 brake one is quick too.

Turbo problems and pump problems? Anything I should look out for when going to see them? Seems a good few low mileage ones for cheap now.

how old are you looking?
if you are looking at the mk3 then yes, look out for :
noisy dual mass flywheel on start and shut down,
clunking noise from rear over bumps,
sagging rear bumper,
injector failure is expensive but not that common,
egr valve blocking, simple clean, will flash the glow plug light as a warning.

but other than that fantastic cars, they have their faults but generally if you buy a good one with service history you cant go far wrong,

if you are after the mk4, they are extremely spacious inside!
i dont know alot about their reliablity etc but had one as a company car for 5 months and loved it.
very comfy, very economical, and very big inside!

Buy an estate....no subframe problems with them

As for that there arent huge problems at all, certainly not enough to put you off buying one.

Zetec-s has same suspension as the rest of the range so just get yourself a ghia-x or titanium if you can.....130 spec estate is a proper useful car and will cruise at a ton all day every day year in year out

Also if you get a Mk3 check the passenger side foot well for damp as they leak from the scuttle panel if it hasnt been sealed properly from having the pollen filter changed

Shitloads of kit

My 130 Ghia x has

Heated Leather Seats - Electric Adjustment
Climate Control
Leather Steering wheel
Decent Stereo
Sunroof
Tinted Glass
Luggage Cover
18" 'SplitRim' Alloys
Heated Front/Rear Screens
Lectric Wing Mirrors

Etc Etc

The only Spec I'd consider less than those two is an ST, purely cause they handle a bit better.

I love mine for cruising the motorway

That does look spot on, how much did you lower it. I`ll go for an 03 onwards then. Seems to be plenty to choose from anyway. Definately getting it remapped, lowered and thats probably about it.

Looks like the zetec s mondeo idea is out the window, my better half wants a new shape focus instead so she can use it too, apparently the mondeo is too big. Ah well, I like the new focus too, have to be the 6speed one aswell.

Default ford mondeo zetec-S TDCI HELP!!!!!!!

Hello, ive owned this car for 3 years and its been fine till about a month ago, i had just filled up the car with Ł30 of fuel, i got in it and started driving i got into 3rd gear then i looked in the rear view mirror and their was black smoke puffing out. just before i got the car in to a layby it cut out all lights were on the dashboard. my mates a mechanic and he looked at it and said "theirs too many electronics on this engine ill take it to ford for you". so he took it for me then he took me home. theyve had the car for about a month now. thanks to a generous friend ive been able to go shopping ect because theyve gave me a car. any way ive been dropping in every week and after they'd had it 3 days they said "oh you can pick it up its done" so i did and i said " can i take it for a test drive and a bloke came with me. Anyway he said they had put two new injectors on it and they was confident that was the problem. About 400m from the workshop it did the exact same thing. they pushed it back and i said "well put the old injectors in it hasnt done any good " i have been left with a rather large bill, i have found another garage to take another look, they are going to charge me 72 quid to plug it into a machine to diagnose the problem, but as of yet no joy to my dilemma, i have been told that it could be the injectors, fuel pump or the ecu at fault and potentially another large bill that could go into thousands. any assistance would be appreciated.

There's a thread on here regarding changing a cam sensor from a black to a grey type that cures this problem for about Ł17 and an hours work although I'm sure ford would know this?
These cars seem to give fuelling problems all the time,I'm not a big fan.

Default Anyone got a mondeo zetec s tdci??

yeh, ive been told by ford that the electrics are fine but the diagnosis thing said that the fuel was contaminated. so ford have took the fuel out of the pump and the cylinders and apparently their is really small particles of metal, and basically what they said was the fuel pump inside was disintegrating. so they've put a reconditioned pump on and drove it and it did the same again. i said again to them "it hasnt done no good so put the old pump on" and they've said "you do no theres a Ł1000 release fee on the vechile to get it out the garage" this has made me angry as i asked them do you have a release fee and they said if we dont know whats wrong with it we'll give you it straight back. i think personally they don't know whats up with it and their trying to get as much money as possibly out of me also with the pump disintegrating it goes to threw the injectors, into the cylinders. They said if this has happened i will need a new head possibly 2-3 cylinders no injectors because we've already been their. any maybe a head gasket. they said the lowest cost they can do for this is Ł4000 really need help lost on what to do

The pumps disintegrate. All Ford dealers will know this, it's no secret.

Any Ford dealer who replaces the pump will also insist that ALL the fuel lines and the tank are flushed or replaced. They will also insist on replacing the injectors.

Also it's unlikely that any Ford dealer will offer to replace the head. Although you can do it Ford guidelines state that the head should not be separated from the block - Nor do your symptoms sound anything at all to do with the head, or gasket. It's almost certainly fuelling.

Call the Ford Customer Care line on 0845 841 1111 and tell them the situation.

It's clear that they've been completely negligent, and do not know what you are doing. Do not pay them any money.

Is it not illegal for a garage to Refuse to give your car back, even if you "owe" them money?
Sounds like theft to me!

well whats the point in having new parts on if it isnt doing no good?? and im not gunna pay any money and to be honest ive had fords all my life im now 71 and this is the only one to give a major problem!! also to add to the situation the other garage just said that the diagnostic thing said the fuel pump in the tank is coming up with a error code??? its apparently when i filled the car up it mixed the gunk in the bottom off the tank with the new and exicting fuel in the tank and its got sucked into the pump and ford just turned round and said " the is no fuel pump in the tank its more time and money to take off and look" i said to them well if your going up a hill how come the car don't stop??? and they said the pressure of the fuel pump, injectors provide the suction for the fuel?? dont no how true this is ?? but if they gave me the car back now i'll only send a match to the thing anyways

cheers for helping me appreciate it

ive told ford to take the tank off and have a look i also told them to flush it out to get out as much of the gunk as possible but their convinced that on the zetec-s with 130hp there is no pump in the tank
