get it done A S A P or they will fuck up your engine big time in the end they will collapse and blow the inlet manifold to bits

this is not true. You should get it done because the engine will run better but its wont harm your engine. this is usually the imrc unit at fault

taking the flaps out will hinder top end performance....with flaps open gives you more torque low down, flaps closed (i.e short runner), gives you max power

have you found out if its a manifold fault or controller fault?

early on there was issues with the seals internally, which could cause stickion, and ingestion of seal into engine.

I also have an ST170 and I have had the engine warning light on for over 10 years which has the same fault and its recently failed its MOT but my point is that it does NOT fuck up your engine.
