hi my inlet flaps are stuck open the car has had this problem since i got it i just wanted to no is it worth sorting or should i just leave it will it make the car worse on fuel or damage engine and wat are the benefits of fixing it . thanks

this is not true. You should get it done because the engine will run better but its wont harm your engine. this is usually the imrc unit at fault

have you found out if its a manifold fault or controller fault?
early on there was issues with the seals internally, which could cause stickion, and ingestion of seal into engine.

I also have an ST170 and I have had the engine warning light on for over 10 years which has the same fault and its recently failed its MOT but my point is that it does NOT fuck up your engine.
