confusing engine driving
hi guys im new to the forum an just bought my car a few month ago an ave enjoyed the drive until this problem has popped up.
its a wierd 1 this as the car will ave its fine days but then will struggle with a big flat spot from 1500 rpm to about 3000rpm. there is no torque from the engine whatsover at times an its wierd because if i clutch it an rev it up to 7000rpm an the drive from idle, all the power will be back there. all the mixtures on each plug all seem fine but there is 1 problem i ave found. there is a sensor under the spark plug cover. well ive took connection off an inside the electrics seem to fill with oil an im avin to clean this alot. im not sure if this is stopping the engine from sensing somethin but ive read the vvt can go out of timing an i hope its not this. ive tried finding this replacement sensor but had no luck. anybody else has this problem. sorry for going on but tried to explain as close as i can. its an 03 st170.
cheers guys.

That sensor controls the VVT, the sensor detects oil pressure and gradually adjusts the inlet cam timing to best suit the revs, there will be oil in the sensor. If a sensor goes down it will throw a fault code up, look at the inlet manifold and check its operation if its stuck in the wrong position you will lose power low down depending on which point it got stuck
hi mate thanks for the reply. ive checked the cable to the manifold an when i rev car i see the arm twisting so looks all good there. ive read that some1 had a problem with a blocked passage way to the vct solenoid so i may give that a check soon. my solenoid seems the leak inside the electrical connection. very strange how it got in there an havig to clean every few days
