Default Focus ST 225 loss of boost pressure

Can someone help please, I have a Focus225 with a stage one bluefin and K and N panel filter - all the rest standard. I have experienced a loss of turbo boost, down to a quarter. I also have a whinning noise from the engine which is only there after five minutes running time from cold, and it goes when you accelerate? Any ideas anyone. Thanks Oh yeah 38K on the clock and I have had the car two and half years with no other problems.

Oil filter diaphragm possibly. Does the noise disappear when you take out the dipstick

Just took the car for a spin to warm her up and get the dreading whinning noise. Yes when I take out the dipstick the noise stopped and I can hear a sucking noise through the dipstick aperture. Just a new oil filter then?

Yep sounds like the diaphragm, common problem with the ST!

Check this thread https://passionford.com/forum/techni...-no-boost.html, this has pictures detailing how to repair, it's actually the filter housing diaphragm so not the filter itself!

Martin,

Just to let you know the problem with my ST was exactly as you had pointed out. I had a friend of mine replace the oil filter housing diaphragm (cost me £145 from Ford dealer with discount) There was a breather pipe that was also disconnected when which was found when fitting the part. My guess is that this had blown off as a result of the issue with the diaphragm. Anyway thanks again for the help. The fitting instructions were excellent.

Only problem was when I dropped the car off at the garage my friend rang me and asked me where my passenger side sideskirt was??? Who knows, somewhere on the M4 probably!! Just odered a new one (170 bucks form Ford and then it has to be painted and laquered) The joys of motoring eh?

Thanks again

Roger

pull Fuse number26 under the bonnet in the fuse box in front of the battery.
This will clear any fault memory
If its a major issue the fault and code will reappear if its just a glitch happy days mine did the same a few weeks ago
