Just to let you know the problem with my ST was exactly as you had pointed out. I had a friend of mine replace the oil filter housing diaphragm (cost me £145 from Ford dealer with discount) There was a breather pipe that was also disconnected when which was found when fitting the part. My guess is that this had blown off as a result of the issue with the diaphragm. Anyway thanks again for the help. The fitting instructions were excellent.

Only problem was when I dropped the car off at the garage my friend rang me and asked me where my passenger side sideskirt was??? Who knows, somewhere on the M4 probably!! Just odered a new one (170 bucks form Ford and then it has to be painted and laquered) The joys of motoring eh?
