Default Mk1 Focus RS Problem...

Basicaly the cooling fan is coming on and staying on from seconds after start up from cold? Any ideas? Ive just checked and the chargecooler pump isnt pumping...-could this be to do with it? Any thoughts ideas would be greatfully recieved, cheeRS Fraser

Fan is normal, ignore that.

But as for the chargecooler pump, how do you know its not pumping? First of all, open the chargecooler reservoir and stick a pin into the small jet where the hose connects, just in case it blocked. Common problem.

Otherwise, take the pump of, place in a bucket of water and connect 2 wires to the + and - terminals and to a battery to see if it pumps.

Do that, then get back to us

have you got your aircon on or fans switched to screen (as that brings air con on too)??

if you do, thats why the fan is on from cold.

i think the fans come on almost straight away on most fords..... does it on my works fiesta and my dads transit.....

shouldnt do mate, doesnt on either of my parents mondeos, my mums old focus or my focus. it'll be to do with the air cont being left on or the vents switched to screen as that activates the air con.

Thanks guys. Fan on from cold was because it was at the screen position.whoops. -New car worries and woes.lol
Gonna investigate the charge pump tonight, check that the hole is clear first. Thanks again, Fraser

ahh yeah, think the fans are normally left set to the screen.....

transit diesel? weve got loads in work, leave them running for ages when we are on jobs e.t.c, never seen the fans come on on them yet!!! they just stay at steady temp
