battery terminals, they have to be free from corrosion, give um a gd scrub!! the coil needs good earth!! the strap around the coil earths the coil too thaT needs to be free from corrosion! if you pull the lead off a plug and hold near side of engine(with insulated pliers)and turn over couple of times is there a spark?

The coil should not be earthed. The coil is earthed by the ECU to create the spark when the spark is needed....

Make sure the wires from the distributor to the ECU are continuous. Also make sure the black wire on the coil has an ignition live feed to it...

ahhhh , thought as well as the switched earth which obviously creates the spark when needed, you also had to have the outside of it earthed, just that when i made a flamer kit the coil wouldnt actually charge up unless the outside of it was earthed! But this had no effect on the switched earth which created the spark!!

sounds like a dodgy phase sensor in the dizzy cap ensure that the inside of the dizzy is free of oil as this can cause false readings and cause the ignition system to fail altogether.
