Default Quick gearbox help!

Are the selector rod's on a S1 and S2 gearbox's different sizes?Changing my box and this is all thats left to go on but i cant get it on! Its as if my linkage(S2) isnt wide enough to go over the new selector rod So im now wondering if its an S1 box and i need the linkage to match?Or even a diesel one..?
I know the box has been opened and i can see it has a LSD

ANY bright ideas?Im so close to getting it back on the road and this has held me up arrrgggghhhhhh!

Cheers,

Stuart

I have used the S1 box in my S2 previously and had no problems fitting the gear linkage (S2 linkage). Have you tried opening the sleve up a bit? Use a pair of molegrips to hold it steady and open it up a bit with a big screwdriver.

Yes mate, ive done that to the point its stretched it really wide but when i put it over the rod and tighten it it squeeze's it back off

What about a Box from a Fiesta RST?Could it be one of those?Everthing else lines up and fits properly apart from this..??

Cheers

I sent Johnny a Msg but i'll call him later.I actually still have his tools Really need to get them back to him pronto

I was down today but only for 5mins and i measured the rod's and they are....EXACTLY the same size/width! Why wont it bloody go on!?! I know what you mean though,i'll go down tomorrow and it will prob go straight on

Annoying how ive come this far and its come to a halt Do you think i really need a gear linkage?

get someone to sit in your car, and try pulling it back a wee bit in 5th, cause if you pull it back a wee bit you are pushing the rod towards the front are u not?

Sounds like you are not putting the selector rod far enough onto the the gearbox.

Try doing what SF said above.
