Default Whats the story with the mk2 FRS box?

Read a few posts with people mentioning this on a CVH block, does anything at all even line up? Sounds like such an odd ball setup.

I've only heard of them used with a zetec block, oil filter would be in way of startermotor mount on a cvh frs combi

I've heard of a cvh with a mk1 frs box, not a mk2, they used a early front starter mtx bell housing, steel zetec flywheel with sleeves in the bolt holes to bolt to the cvh crank and frs mk1 clutch kit

I can't remember if they had to mod the bell housing as they was thinking of swapping the internals from the frs into a mtx casing

Yeah, it was a post about nms where I read it. Can't see the point if you've got to use a custom housing as you might as well use any box out there, surely the FRS isn't the best there is?

Think you will find sitech have run near on 600bhp on a standard mk2 frs box

Guzzler had 550bhp on a standard box and Gordon from street racers has used one in a pug 205 with a Evo engine running 609bhp on the last check

So will piss 400bhp

The weak link in a mk2 frs transmission is the dual mass flywheel, ditch it for a single lightweight flywheel and matching clutch and the above figures are possible

And when the big boys are over 500lbs of torque means its the strongest box for has ever used or produced

If a kit came out to fit one its the only conversion I would spend a few grand on because I could break any other set up

Fair enough, sounds like a plan. Isn't the pug evo on a mk1 FRS box though? When I went to constella to see what was involved it sounded a ball ache but as said, its taking the power.

if this is for the 320bhp cvh your building then all you need is a front starter mondeo mtx box as it bolts straight to block and you can have the choice of hydrolic clutch and normal speedo drive plus you can drop a atb straight in if wanted

very minimal cutting is required, it just needs the inner skin modding and the new mount brackets welding on
