fuel trip computer fitting
Hi, have a 89 s2 rst . and was wondering if a the trip computer can be easily wired in?
Not sure its ever had one but does this mean the car needs major work to fit this or will the car be setup waiting for the unit to be fitted
I am able to get the trip computer with all the wire and sensors
Appreciate any thoughts or comments.
Cheers

When you say all the wires and sensors what exactly are you getting?
If its EVERYTHING from a car with a working system then you can indeed wire it in easily enough, there will be a 3 pin plug behind the clocks which has power etc, and you'll need to wire and install the fuel flow sender, speed sensor and another feed from level sender.
It's much easier on efi cars but still do able on MRI if you get the right bits and they all work.
If you need any help give me a shout, I've got all the info regarding wiring pins and fault finding the computer itself.

I'd have it for mine if I didn't have boost gauge there, and tbh I don't want to know how much fuel it uses lol.
Speed sensor on my efi xr3i was knackered so threw the readings out, I had a spare on an ib5 gearbox I had so used that, they screw on where the cable goes then the cable screws into the sensor you can use any that keeps the speedo cable. Cut the plug off the old one if its knackered and put the old plug on new style sensor so it still plugs into the loom.
Not sure how accurate it'll be on mfi, it was spot on with efi once it was working properly but I usually left it on the 'range' mode so I knew how many miles I had left.
I've got the original ford self test procedure document ill email you when you have it all plugged in and it'll tell you if stuff is working as it should be.
That seems to be a pretty comprehensive kit! I just got the actual display bit for my efi car and added the wires I needed, that looks to be plug and play!
