Default overheating

Hi guys

Had a small issue with overheating on the way to work this evening. On a 15min drive the temp went off the scale. Had a look under the bonnet and the top hose was solid but not red hot as I usually expect.
Tried to get the temp down with heaters on full but just managed to create a sweatbox and not bring the temps down.

Could this be the headgasket or a simple airlock?

Could be one of many things, first thing you need to do is verify there is coolant and if it is the correct level?

Unlikely to be an airlock, and if it hasen't lost any coolant it's not the HG either!

If it is that, then you should renew the thermostat, running without one isn't really fixing it

When driving 60mph it sits pretty low, at the bottom of the norm area.

If that is accurate it's pretty hot, mine never went over 115 deg and that was at 2 bar of boost and ambient temps of 20-25 deg's!
