As title really, do they have to be upright, or can they be mounted on their side?

I want to mount mine like this;



and was wondering if it would work correctly?

(I want to keep it as I had custom braided lines made up to keep the accumulator and don't want to buy new lines. Plus I think the accumulator looks quite trick in the fuel line.)

I think it will be fine mate, essentially they are a chamber with a spring and piston to maintain fuel pressure when the engine's off and to smooth fuel flow. No reason why they wouldn't work up side down either.

That's what I thought, Rob. It's just a chamber with baffles and a diaphragm to hold pressure when the fuel pressures off. I just didn't want turning it on it's side to mess the spring system up.

Ahhh a diaphragm would make more sense than a piston. Either way i can't see it effecting it at all. Give it a go and see

Just a thought, aren't they mounted horizontally on the underside of RS1600i and Series Ones just by the tank? Should be fine then.

Yes they are mounted sideways underneath on the series 1 and 16i's.

Yes they are Muz.. I literally one min ago was looking at pics of a underneath of a rs16i and noticed the accumalator under there.
