So it won't start at all even when cold? Try taking the airbox off andhave someone push the paddle down as you turn the ignition.

Yup check plugs are not soaked with petrol. If they are then remove them and dry them out. Also check all the fuses.

If it was running before I would hazard a guess at heat in the starter motor. On mine the excite wire would get hot and it would need to be wiggled whilst turning the key for it to start.
might be worth a try?

Steam bubbles in the fuel system?

When you turn the engine off the heat from the engine heats up the fuel inside the fuel lines. Small steam bubbles start to build up inside the lines and expand more and more the longer the engine is hot and not running. Fuel is pumped back through the metering head and the fuel pump into the tank.
So when you try to start again the K/KE-Jetronic need ~ 3bar @ injector to open it. The fuel pump tries to build up pressure but the only thing that is happening is the steam bubbles being compressed so there's not enough pressure left @ injector to open it. The only thing that prevents something like this is a small shut off valve on top of the fuel pump that prevents fuel being pressed back into the tank. When this is stuck/missing you'll face the problems you describe. I'm not quite sure if you get it @ Ford, but any Bosch service station should be able to get one for you. These fuel pumps were also widely used in VW, Audi and Mercedes Cars.

Try taking the injectors out and put them in a plastic bottle to make sure they are spraying properly when cranking the car over.

Normally you can push the flap down on the metering unit as someone turns the ignition.

If there is air bubbles or pressure you could try and relieve the system by disconnecting the filter.
