Every year me and me mate try and do abut of drag racing at the pod or shakespare raceway in what ever car we are using at that time so as I've only just had my s2 I was wondering what sort of time you guys had got with spec and bhp. So it would give me an idea on mine. Cheers

14.7 @ 104mph

249bhp with misbehaving 5th injector causing a flat spot shifting from 2nd to 3rd gear. This will be sorted before the car comes out again.

Urm should be interesting then. But I thought it it might be a little lower. Last year I was running 15's dead in me mk5 rs2000 and me mate was 14.6 same spec butis was completely striped. But looking forward to see what I get.

Engine spec
Piper t285 cam
-31
Stage 2 turbo
Pace intercooler
Chip
And hoping to run 1 bar of boost so any ideas what bhp I should be getting.

its all about the launch thru 1st and 2nd gear that makes up the time.my orange one was an absolute pig for spinning in 1st 2nd and 3rd. i had about 5psi in my front tyres on my 14.4 time that i got.using half throttle in 1st and 2nd was the best way for me

its traction you need for the times to tumble mate ,power can help but in most cases with rst's it can make you slower .

what tyres and suspension ect do you run ? and is your diff in good working order?

Tell me about it.
Last year was running 17inch mo's with toyo proxes T1R's

Will hopefully run with 15's and most probably 888's this year.
Suspension is Koni with eibach springs.
The diff is brand new, quaife atb. Clutch is - AP2000-35 clutch.

mid to low 13's should be on the card's if you can get it off the line well then and get clean through the gears and keep off your rev limiter

[QUOTE=crazycage;5287736]r888s are road tyres mate

Yeah alright i do know that lol, you know what i meant.....'conventional' road tyres not the likes of soft compound track tyres like 888's (i'm not saying i'd neccessarily of got better times with them though).
For reference and to avoid any confusion they were toyo t1r's

Mmm....not really done anything major to it yet lol as nothing's fallen off or broken!
It's running the usual mods to liven it up a bit but i'd like to spend some money on it this year and see 3-350bhp, the management seems to be the stumbling block as i miss not being able to get it live mapped like the rst!!
Trying to resist the urge to go down the same route as before and start lavishing all my money on it, although i'm sure when i see yours at combe this year i'll be wanting to

Well said.

Some really crap times vs bhp among RS turbo's (cvh). Half the problem is the way the power comes in. Its nothing then all of a sudden boooooooooooooooooooooost.

I ran a 14.4 @99, full interior + ice and road tyres, with only 300 quid regrind cams and a spot of head work for mods in my Clio 172 and it was only dyno'd at 186 bhp.

Stick a C20let in a Corsa or Nova and your straight in the mid to low 13's at worst. Would take you thousands of ŁŁŁ to get a RST to those times

But then you'd have the embarrassment of driving a vauxhall! The red-tops engines aren't what they are cracked up to be anyway, most cheap convo's into corsas n novas wouldnt even roll your foreskin back! Luton Lemons!

The clio's seem to respond well to tuning, esp for a NA car... Shame they weigh so much!

You make a good point tho, everybody goes on about 300bhp and 500bhp but it don't mean squat if its delivered in the last 500rpm of the rev range with nothing before it, so like you say nothing then booost n loadsa wheelspin, equalling not great 1/4 mile times. Altho out on the open road from a rolling start, they can be quite lethal!

It depends what your into. I'd prefer a 12 second Nova to a 12 second piece of predictable Jap scrap.

RST would be even better but they just dont do quarter miles, well unless its zetec turbo and lots of cash thrown at it.

A lot of folk rave about their big BHP but how many have useable power they can put on the road matched to a good chassis set up?
Wheel spin is lost power.

Dennis my point about the useable power exactly..
Shame Mk4s aint so quick 1/4 mile...

Stuart thats quick, esp so for a 1.6CVH! I'd love that sort power from a CVH, good man!
Altho that said i'd be over the moon if i managed a 14.4sec 1/4 like Rob's!
Maybe i'll aim for a 14/15sec before i go for a 12 eh?

Lol, cheers mate. Im sure you'll surprise your self.

TBH i was running 14.8's mostly, one 15 and then one 14.4...

Good warm tyres help. and stiff suspension especially at the back and your away, im aiming for 13's this year happy with any 13 lol 13.1-13.99 its all good, Shouldn't be too hard with new tyres and a bit more power.

Lets hope so! Well once mines setup and im happy with the way its running, il give it a go... Got a 16.7 in a 1.6EFi NA Orion, so got some seconds to knock off yet!

Point taken, i'll wind the rear Koni's onto hard then and its on a fresh set on T1Rs atm, we'll be munching lol!
