Default Differences in S2 Turbo's and running issues (essay)

Ok, im a little confused, as i keep reading threads on this site i am noticing a lot of differences between my turbo and everyone elses. Mine is a 1986 (D reg) S2. I know Ford changed a few things when they made the 90 spec. Did they do this again between 86 and 88?
The differences i have noticed are: I only have one relay under the dash (the pink fuel relay), The inlet manifold on the engine has another port on the back in the centre... not sure what this is for?, I have a green knock sensor plug on the loom but no knock sensor in the manifold, a white round plug on the loom in the engine bay with no where for it to go, (however the previous owner removed the abs so it could be for that?)

I brought the car in a million bits as a fun project and now i have most of it back together i am having running issues with it, i dont know if this is due to the plugs om the loom having no where to go.

The problems i have are: Runs really rough when you gradually increase throttle (engine starts to vibrate)
Will not rev over 3,500 to 4,000
Also the rad fan may not be working... still need to test it.
The car also starts instanly when cold but when its warm you sometimes have to give it a little throttle to start, but it is an old car so that may be normal?

I really want to get this car on the road, still got some bodywork to do and a full respray but would rather the engine is running properly first so any help will be useful.

Thanks
Graham

Most RS turbo's will need a touch of the right peddle when hot

As for the loom issue and the things you are bothered about maybe get some pics up could be a S1 loom ?

hi, who is to say it has the original engine, or head/ inlet manifold. Most rs turbos have had several engines by now. As for the running issues, best to take it to someone who knows what they are looking at as no one can guess correctly without having a good look, the fact it starts and runs is a great starting point.

You may not have a series 1 engine as the early series 2's had no knock sensor

If i dont have one plugged in will it make a difference? I think ive heard of people plugging one in and just leaving it tied to the bulkhead. Thanks

not a good idea, its ok to plug a dummy in but mount it securley to the head as it will pick up false knock from hitting off things if its loose
