bulb may have gone and battery won't be charging.
or the alternator needs a new rectifier pack.

Will defo be the thin blue wire on the back of the alternator this is the earth for the bulb and is common for it to break so it will need repairing, it is actually very important as it's part of the charging circuit that excites the field windings so at the moment it's not charging at all. Revving to around 4K will also start charging.

Bulbs prob gone again this is a common problem. take the top casing from the steering colum off and then the surrounding from the dials and the dials them self and you can get behind there and change the bulb.

you might need to go into the bay and push the speedo cable abit.

Probably what he ^^ says then, it has to be one of these two only other possibility which would be very strange is if the live to the bulb has gone astray.

Not sure of the type of bulb but on Sierra it has a white plastic knob on the end, imagine yours would be similar (The same as rest of warning lights, bar ABS) which you twist so you can then remove it (Two lugs holding it) it would just be a standard 12V low wattage bulb.

NB With ignition off and 12V sent down the blue wire the bulb should illuminate.

I had this problem.you mostly find the connection faulty on the metal strips where the bulb sits.give that a fiddle, swap light bulbs round to see if that helps.i changed everything on mine just to find it to be a dodgy connection on metal strip.so i half turned it and it worked.

Then it will either be the bulb itself or the live track to it on the PCB, more than likely the bulb so as said change with another such as parking brake light to test.

Then it HAS to be a break or bad connection in the blue wire, when you looked at it did you actually remove the connector as well? You need to make sure it's free from corrosion.

You need to have +12V at this wire with ignition on.

Yep you got it may be a shade under as you have the ignition on so things are using power.

Then it has to be a break in the blue wire most likely further back and make sure inside the connector is not corroded, you now have two options, either trace the wire back and try and repair or just run a seperate new wire from back of alt to the dash which IMO would be easier.

To be 100% certain you could perform a continuity test on the wire.

Theres a setting on the meter for it, you simply connect one end of the meter one end and the other end to other end of the wire, you would need another piece of wire to elonggate one end as otherwise it won't reach. It should beep and give a resistance reading if there is a connnection.

You would have to splice it into the connector where the exciting blue wire goes dash end.
