Default ZVH Head Gasket

I currently have a 2.0 litre ZVH Escort (Ian Howell from Area Six engine) and my head gasket went on me so I bought a 2.0 Litre ZVH cometic head gasket as a replacement.

Once the head came off and we put the Cometic gasket on we noticed is wasnt the correct gasket like the one that came off the car.

After reading all the ZVH guides ive found out that the gasket that was on the car was from a 2.0 Litre Zetec Mondeo, now since the garage couldnt use the Cometic one ive gone and bought a normal 2.0 litre Zetec as shown in the link as this is exacty what was on the car originally.

My car runs 14psi so not exactly mega boost, will this be ok running a standard 2.0 Litre Zetec head gasket?

Hello

you can use this gasket but usually the cvh head is welded up on the bottom to increase the clamping force by increasing the surface area. I would recomend speaking to simon at sitech racing, I got my zvh headgasket from them, it foits perfectly and also is reusable. You can see the gasket on my reso thread under autoflock demo car.

Hope this helps

P.S. the cvh head does not need to be welded up if using Sitech's zvh head gasket

Sure thing Raj, I'll ring you on my lunch in an hour. My advice is priced out at £50 per minute so I'm sure we can sort something out with regards to flocking services covering my time.

Thanks for the quick replies.

I havent seen the head myself since it came off the car but my head is no doubt welded up as the gasket that has been in the car for the past 5 years is a Zetec one. Had a look at the gasket from Sitech but its a little out of my budget at present.

Would a standard Zetec gasket be ok for 14psi?

Standard Zetec will be fine. They are all multi layer steel anyway.
