205.40.16's
Toyo Proxes 4's are about the best tyre you can get in that size. Isn't much choice unless you got for a 50 profile.

during my track days i used that one as a cheap but pretty good tire and what's most important for me they are ROAD LEAGAL

CONWAY N-RALLY 205/50/16
4 types of rubber (very soft -> soft -> medium -> hard)
i buy them for about 76 Pound (very soft) 65 Pound (all else)

I run 195/45/16's P Zero's, dont think they are quite as sticky as my Toyo's where though.

i think they are made on Michelin's licence

but as i know Michelins are not road leagal with that tyre... only track...

and those are a lot cheapier than Michelins and i think they would be able to be bought and send to UK from producer

The 50 profile is a little too much in 16in.

If it was 15in then id say thats fine, but try fitting 205/50 on 8j rims on a Mk3/4 then try going round a track.

215 40 16 Eagle F1s on my old shed. They look a little big as the width fills the wheel properly as opposed to a little bit of tyre stretch but I like the grip.

yeah 50s at 16" are definately to high for mk3/4

i used them at subaru impreza

for mk3/4 i would use 15" for track

for my daily driver mk4 i will use 17" but definately low profile and not for track days
