Pace intercooler
The escort i'm currently rebuilding has a pace intercooler fitted but theres no mounting lugs. The only thing that holds it to the car is the hoses. It also fouls the bonnet release catch. Just wondering if it's supposed to be bolted into place and if anyone else has had the problem with it fouling?
I'm guessing this is a "half size" cooler??If so,youre correct, its only the hose's that hold it in place. To stop it fouling the bonnet catch you need to bend the catch up a little. But my best advice would be to run over that cooler or feck it in a skip, and buy a proper front mount GRS cooler.
hold up if this is the only option he has then why u telling him to bin it. Yes its not the best but ok for 10psi with a little more power than factory.
Anyways fella send it to me ill weld some tabs on it for you to bolt it to your front panel.

when i had mine i took the bonnet catch and used a vice just to reshape the lever a little ..... and what jano says is a good one mate probley the best advise as it holds it in nicely then
imo they are ok upto about 10-12psi no more and if thats what you have mate it will be fine as jano says but if you want more boost and power then an upgrade in the near forseeable future is required to a nice front mount like airtec or a grs

there better than the grs for std boost as they have little/no pressure drop.grs on mine had a 4 psi pressure drop, which if your running std boost your turbos working harder than need be for no reason
the pace half size cooler is perfect for std boost, retains decent act's and no pressure drop.
This is not true.
Who would want std boost with a GRS intercooler anyways???? So that is usesless info.
WHICH GRS intercooler did you test it against? Where is the proof? What temps was it tested with and how many hours before the two were tested against each other? On who's rollers and which one was tested first. What was the engine temps and ACT before the run was done. I could go on but you get the idea?
Everyone i have tested over the last 12years has out perfromed every other cooler. With no bias views from mags or people who make money from it or a freebie when fitted to a car for a feature... Dont belive everything you read in a mag. Some times the person writing the feature will have their own agenda.
Also if this is the case. AND the GRS did have a boost drop.........
i would much rather have the boost drop than the high ACT
So not everything is black and white.
Cheers for that info jano about the catch i take it the mk3's are slightly shorter then?? will be looking for a mk3 catch as mine is still catching even though i have bent it!!!!

i simply replied to the 2 post above saying that the pace interwarmer is a better cooler for std boost than the grs is.did i mention i was running std boost, the topic starter never mentioned what boost he was running either, but people come on and slate the DC without even knowing what boost or power he's running,if he came on and said im running 12psi above then the DC is not recommended,so my answer was based on IF he was running std boost the grs is not needed and the DC will suffice.so exactly why i said the DC will be a better option than the grs at std boost as you say yourself, why would you want to run a grs with 10psi
now lets move along to the testing of my grs cooler, tests were conducted by AVA on there rolling road,do you have a rolling road jano?????do you even have premises to work from or you still working from your storage cupboard out your back???so my reply to the pressure drop was warranted as it was tested by someone with 30+years in tuning cars and bikes and not some back street tuner that works from a portacabin in his garden.id much rather have a pressure drop than high act's aswell, exactly why i choose the grs and not the DC for my old erst, but id much rather have an AVA cooler which has no pressure drop and low acts's,have you tested one of them???i know your clued up on rst's but dont come across as a cock and know it all jano.the DC cooler is ideal for std boost applications against the grs which is over engineered for a std boost erst.and will work your turbo harder than what is needed.you want to fit grs coolers to your std boosting cars and run the turbo at 4psi more than your gettin at the inlet then batter in
heres comes the calvary
take it he's now got premises?very good,so that must mean he's vat registered and running a legal business?must be doing well for himself these days.not well enough to pay traders fee's on here though is he

Great lets sink the post in to the normal PF bullshit. No wonder people get fed up listening and reading crap like this for no reason.
I am a registered bussiness have been for many many years now! I havent traded from home for over ten years thats a whole decade
Where do you think some of the best people in the country started from? Im lucky 15years ago i had a garage in the back garden to call my own. Some tuners when they started didnt even have that, and used their front driveways to progress with something that they loved and enjoyed doing. I could tell you 5 big names that all started from home.
I have a great size workshop and office now, also a workshop at home which is expanding so one day i can return there.
Have a look in my album might open your eyes a little.

I do not have a rolling road out of CHOICE the real road is better as we both know, also there is a rolling road next door to me if i needed to use it for high power cars, that are not always safe maping on the real road untill its the final tests and map.
I choose not to be a trader on here as i have no need to. The company name has such a good word of mouth that other companys couldnt pay for it even if they wanted to. This in the end keep costs down for the customer as they dont need to pay for the advertising costs that i would have to get back somewhere down the line.
Takes only 1 look at anyone of the many cars i have built or even helped build to speak for itself.

it was you that lowered the tone, typical pf style by asking for proof of testing etc.and didnt back it up by showing proof of your testing that you've done.test on my car with the grs cooler showed that at 17psi at the inlet my turbo was producing 21psi.why would i ask my tuner for proof if i trust his findings.not a problem for a stg 3 t3 but not ideal to be working a turbo harder than needed when not necessary.
ma developements started with a garage in his mums back garden just like you jano and now hes just moved again to an even bigger unit.....
and from the following you have mate you can only get bigger and concidering you pretty much only do cvh and yb's and other companys are given up on the old fords and only like working on the new skool stuff and are moving on to jap crap , i think thats deadication to what you love aswel as good customer service....
