Time does fly mate. Hope the jobs going well still and you're keeping busy.
Cars going well, just tinkering and improving little bits here and there now really.

If it was something monster powered you were after, Id be inclined to go to karl just cause that seems to particuarly excite him with the CVH and so it seems to be something that karl particuarly specialises in these days more than most other tuners who seem to be moving on more, but Im sure that the likes of MSD are still doing enough of them to keep their hand in for doing a setup on one even if they havent made quite such silly numbers out of them as Karl!

Lot to be said for having someone local too.

Any competant ford tuner should be able to do that very easily.
Im sure MSD will sort that out a treat for you.

Sorry to hi-jack but what do tuning companies actually check when they do a set-up on an mfi rs turbo ?
I need my estate setting up but being my first turbo'd car i havnt got a clue what they check.

Cheers mark.

On a MFI RST....
Increase boost matching fuelling at full load WOT whilst monitoring for Det, then advance timing to the point of Det and retard a couple of degrees whilst monitoring fuelling, set idle mixture

You missed out a few things:

Our engine tuning covers things like:
  • Compression pressure test.
  • Cylinder Leakage Test (subject to above results).
  • Intake system pressure check to 10psi. (More if forced Induction)
  • Visual cam timing check.
  • Spark plug condition and suitability.
  • General ignition system check for condition and suitability.
  • Spark timing.
  • Fuel Phasing. (Not KE)
  • Fuel pressure.
  • Fuel pressure vacuum pull down. (Not KE)
  • Fuel pressure positive increase. (Forced induction only) (EMFPR operation on KE)
  • Fuel delivery at idle.
  • Fuel delivery under cruising conditions.
  • Boost pressure/s.
  • ECU code analysis for errors logged and present. (Not KE)
  • EOBD live Data stream analysis where applicable. (Not KE)
  • Fuelling under heavy load in real conditions
  • Detonation Check under load in real conditions
KE Specific on top of the above:
  • Throttle cable adjustment
  • TPS operation in all 3 modes
  • Coolant Sensor operation
  • Air Sensor operation
  • Aiflow potentiometer operation
  • Knock Threshold sensor operation (Where fitted)
  • Knock sensor operation. (Where Fitted)
  • AFM base position check / adjustment

You may do all that Stu but I'm sure your aware that 90% of other tuners do not!
Just to note, thats a good price considering you do though!

Smooth torque performance are jap specalist but they are 1-2 mins from ma house n give me good rates. They have a white 600+ bhp skyline in time attack.

N i will be bringing it to you lot at msd sound like a good bunch n do good work mates have said take it to norris n some said msd.

Cheers joe

Cheers guys i dont like going into these things completely blind now ive got abit more of an idea what the crack is.
Ive got a couple of problems like a little tick every now and again on tick over, the idles abit high and i think the wastegates rattleing slightly when it comes on boost so a good set-up should sort all these problems out.

Cheers mark.
