Default mfi metering head help

ju st replaced engine in rs turbo that had blown up.I brought it not running and
abandon it in a lock up for just over a year. i have the new engine all fitted but
it fires some times but won,t stay running.I have got good fuel pressure to the
metering head and the cold start injector but nothing to 4 injectors. It will run if i
give a sniff of easy start so diffanately fuel. any one have any ideas?

thanks jim

Sounds silly but does the metering head flap move easily? if it has been standing for a long time this may have seized/stiffened up etc. The flap position correlates to how much fuel is injected.

Take an injector out next and look at what it does when the engine is cranked (unplug the cold start injector to avoid totally fludding whilst you are playing about), and when you push on the flap.

Let us know what happens

Forgot to say that if fuel does not come out of the injector, and the flap moves with ease it if possible that your fuel distribution head (the but on top with the injector pipes coming out) could be in trouble....

Thanks for your reply
The metering flap moves freely if i push the flap
down whilst the engine is cranked it still does't
deliever any fuel out of the injectors

and comes back up easily? I would suspect the distribution head tbh, but it could be a couple of other things.

Not sure of any one who rebuilds these..... might be easier to locate a known good one.

Rob,
Norris Motorsport rebuilt my metering unit, but my Orion turbo was in there having a f***ing fortune spent on it at the time

I had similar problem, it would fire up on cold start injector but wouldn't run,
No fuel from the 4 injectors, but there was lots of pressure and fuel would spew from the head if the bango bolts were slackened,
Turned out the Pump was drawing air caused by low fuel level, - make sure u got at least 2 jerry cans in the tank -
sometimes it's the simple things,
good luck

chris
