Had my s2 out today and running couple mins and few mins after i discovered one the twin kenlowe fans i have had like water on it which when i touched left clamy feeling on my skin as if coolant was present and the water wasa golden sort of colour. Anyway this was only on the right hand fan and was also on the fan wiring a bit underneath the intercooler. Anyone throw any light on this? I wondered if my rad is leaking, but then how would it get onto the fan and not everywhere else.
My first initial thought which i quickly diminished when i thought no how silly to think was has the fan hubs got a kinda lubircation oil inside them and its leaked. But then the fans hadnt come on at all anyway.

Does the car breathe to atmosphere? running a dump valve? checked the turbo oil seals? i.e oil smoking up on the downpipe.

Souds like oil vapour from one source or another condensing more visibly in shitty weather and damp...weird it's only on one fan though.

adam- im running a breather pot mate, are u thinking it may come from the intercooler then? I really cant understand where its come from to only be on one fan and on the wiring. Ive never had this before and have had the car running a few times. Dont think i had anything smoking u mate, pretty sure i didnt.

an odd one definately.

how old is the cooler? i wonder if the fan has been rubbing against it and worn through one of the fins making a hole, then splattered the oil round it when some vapour has escaped from it?

mojo- the cooler (a larage mount grs) is about 2yrs old but the thing isthe cars never been on the road where im building it up at moment and the fans havent even turned before as engine hasnt been run long enough to get hot and them kick in.

Lol, hello paul how u been mate? Yeah well ive had it finished but then changed my mind about putting it on the road last summer and used the money for a heavy week in ibiza instead lol. Will defo be on road for this spring though, promise so keep an eye out for us at meets and come say hello.

Lol, well yeah. Im actually waiting at moment to find a descent loom for it as mines had so many repairs etc. Then will build the engine bay up properly again for what will hopefully be the final time.
