lol, it's slow going mate - although it is on the road and drives quite well. All major mechanical work is done, rest is cosmetic really.

Turbo'd ST170 lump, Focus RS box, power steering, S1 suspension. Other than that it's just an average S2.

Rick.

Keep meaning to take one mate. Although, i 2 pac'd the cam cover back in March - The hardener had become contaminated so it's now this manky tacky oil stained mess, so the engine looks minging. Need to redo it, but it isn't really important for me to have bothered yet...

I keep thing about PAS on my series 1. 215 tyres have made the car quite heavy on the steering and some times I could do with a spare arm to wrestle with the steering whilst mid roundabout and changing gear. PAS would make it easier to handle.

Are you on cables for the gear change RIck? I assume you will be. The MTX is something else I keep thinking about with a hydraulic clutch conversion...

GYM and do the MTX box fella, i have thought about it and an rs2000 mtx will fit pretty easily, just custom shafts needed and fit hydraulic clutch

I'm not exactly weak! 6 foot and 14.5 stone. It's just not easy trying to change gear whilst fighting castor on the front wheels whilst changing gear whilst cornering hard and changing direction as you're coming off the roundabout. I just feel that Icould drive the car more progressively if it was easier to control. The steering gets to a point where it gets quite heavy to keep on lock which means having to put some effort into controlling the car and a firm grip on the steering wheel. When changing from 3rd to 4th after hitting the apex of a roundabout and having to point the car the opposite direction, it can require some effort and some easing off the throttle sometimes until it's pointing the way I want to go.

maybe getting a longer ratio steering rack, or as said the PAS route since your car is off the road IIRC.

i know how these fords can pull you all over the road especially when trying to actually control the steering too lol!

p.s. get those escorts sorted, need an update on the red series two

Longer ratio means slower steering!!!

I'll let AJC update on the red S2. I've been buying some bits for the Mk 3 shell though.

i like the way these cars drive,as thats what there all about, but cant help thinking that electric power steering, and cable change gears along with hydraulic clutch, are the way forward despite what others say

I do love the way I get out after a thrash feeling like I've had to fight a tiger to the death but sometimes a little more control there would be handy! I mean my car is far from the most powerful out there, or at least it wasn't when it was on the road but god it took some effort to drive on the edge. Loved it when it was on the road though.

Some updating with modern technologyis never a bad thing but I'd never go as far as to fit traction control, ABS and fancy stability control and stuff. Thats just going over the top. More modern engineering designs are always worth looking at though.

Rick, yes mate, long time no speak/see!! I've been busy the last 2 years with pushing the business and becoming a director and all. Still working on projects at work and trying to keep customers spending money but I'm still playing with the car here and there. It'll be good to meet up again one day when you've got yours back on the road.
