I have driven a few rs turbo's and also cabs atm, but i have noticed a problem that i have seen of a few cars.

After a long drive in 5th gear i dump the clutch and it seems that you really have to pull harder on the gearlever then on all the other gears..
When you put it in 5th and directly get it out again then the problem isn't there.

You just have to pull harder to get it out of gear. It's not really a problem but would be nice to know how to sort it.

The box on the car where i had this problem with is now of the car, but i have read somewhere that, when you run with a low amount of oil, 5th gear will go first. So maybe this is caused by running a gearbox with not enough oil?

I've read the same thing about 5th gear going 1st if low on oil.Regards,Micky

My XR2 is the same, after a motorway session in 5th gear it's a bit difficult to pull out of 5th. I put it down to the box having done 98k miles and sounding a bit worn anyway! Rebuild/swap it out sounds the best plan

Makes sense, it is bolted on the end like an afterthought all by itself lol

Iv had about 15 cars and alot of them where the same.i think the only car that dident do it was the zafira gsi.???

my own rs turbo totally hasn't got this problem! But the rs turbo from my dad and the cab we have brought both stick in 5th gear. Maybe i'm going to pull the boxes apart and will post if i find something
