Post actuator preload = approx boost

I've just fitted a new -31 actuator to my t3. I have preloaded to approximately half a hole. WITHOUT any bleed, what level of boost should I expect to see at this load level?

Also, what should I expect to see at a complete hole of load or is this a bad idea and would I be better off bleeding to make the required boost level?

Thanks

You would see around 0.6-0.7 bar of boost, and typically it's not a very good idea to much increse the preload. If you need to, you have the wrong actuator to start with.
It's a better idea to use a proper boost control. I like to use Megasquirt for that.

I'm sure I have the correct actuator. So what you're saying is if half a hole gives me 0.6bar and thats not enough then I have the wrong actuator?!

I'm thinking half a hole = approx 0.6bar. I'm looking for 1bar max (ofac efi) therefore bleed a further 0.4bar and bingo am I wrong??

Correct. Bleed it to the 1bar and not by adjusting preload.

you should be able to get 10psi on a -31 and bleed another 10psi.
if you use a -34, you can preload 12psi and bleed 12.
this is how MSD do it, without proper boost controllers.

Done. Preloaded actuator half a hole and FM with no bleed 8psi. Now Bled off a further 8-9psi giving me my required 15psi held. Interesting stuff!
