Default head gasket

changed today and put it all back together and its reving really hard on idle have i done something wrong all plugs are back on and new gaskets and everything tightened up so im confused could it be timin out a bit a markrd it all up and it starts fine so not sure

Not knocked the idle screw have ya?

3/4 k on idle its a fiesta turbo engine in a escort does it have an idle screw

first thing to do is check your vacuum pipe is fully pushed in at both ends as if thats out it will cause your engin to idle real high. mine popped out once and it shot up to 6k.

im guessing your on efi then? the idle screw is hidden to the lower left side of the trhottle body, its a flat head screw in a slight tunnel, i think its clockwise to lower the rpm if i remember correctly.

let us know how u get on and il try suggest some other things

as said before check for vacum leaks as thats main reason they idle badly if nothing else has been changed or disturbed

everything checked its all on still idles high its a complete fiesta rs engine including loom if that helps and the whole head was taken off but nothing was moved and timing was marked and put back and it starts lovely but revs high and tried to move timing slightly but wouldnt run so wat could it be its andjustable pulley so could it be out a bit how do i fix it fitp sunday!!!!!

pls help gettin pissed off now pretty sure its not timing as it starts and runs just revs really high

Hi Martinmilne it sounds like an air leak pal get a can of carb cleaner or brake cleaner and squirt it round till the engine revs drop and you find the area of the leak.

ok found a leak i think as revs drop but checked all over taken it of and put back and still the same its the inlet manifold where it bolts to the head!!!!

seeing as its a fiesta turbo engine with the efi head i bet u put the inlet manifold gasket on the wrong way?

did he not put the top bit of the inlet on correctly as this holds it up a bit and makes the car rev high when started
