Default What sort of power needed?

What sort of power would i need to keep up or even outpace my m8s standard 04 plate scooby?
I know im not gonna have him on corners and such but straight line speed. Not interested in top speeds either just acceleration.

Ive got a xr3i mk4 cab with turbo conversion at the mo only running standard boost, stainless exhaust,k&n filter.

What sort of bhp would be needed?

I would say that if it's a standard wrx imprezza then your gonna need 200 bhp just to keep up with it!! to beat it your gonna need 230+

surely its not just about bhp figures tho , imo its no good havin 200+ horses if u cant put it down on the road ,

+ its how the power comes in , dont want a sht load of power when the turbo comes on boost just to have ur wheels spinnin through the gears , all about the way its mapped ,surely!!?????????

Conversions done m8. just got to get it setup. Im booked in to see Jano next thursday and hes gonna sort it and do a few things to it.Looking at the normal 180bhp. Dont wanna go too mad at the mo. havent updated by rebuild section for a while and no pics as car still looks a bit cack as havent cleaned it up yet. Started putting my interior back in and power roof conversion in. Just got to run a few more wires then the interior is more or less done. Then a polish up and that should be about it bar a respray. Im thinking about the new artic white instead of diamond but dont know yet and got to wait till funds allow it!
Also got some mondeo cossie lookalites to put on too but not sure to keep them or not.

I agree, when my series 2 had just been set up the power curve was spot on and i kept up with a 52 plate wrx (on a pirvate road obviously) and that was with 197 bhp & 238lbft but i had 200lbft @ 3200rpm all and 238lbft @ 4-5600rpm. so my tourqe matched if not beat his and my car is around 350kgs lighter as scoobys wigh in at around 1300kg's

Very true, but for most RS turbo's that are still MFI there is no mapping that can be done and that is exactly what happens in 1st and 2nd..... wheel spin all the way!
