In theory, yours should be the same casting as an S1 RST.

If it has D shaped exhaust ports then it's isn't an RST or RS1600i head.....

This is correct the S1 was ported the same as the 16i BUT the S1 has different exhaust valves they are filled with sodium for cooling

That looks like an S2 head due to the fact it has a seperate injector manifold. To identify it properly, post piccies of the exhaust ports...

S2 head it is then. At least I know now.

I've had the head checked and it seems to be just short of 0.5mm shorter than a standard head which means its been skimmed once or twice. Would this make a huge diference in compression as 3 out of 4 pistons were cracked after a complete rebuild inc new pistons?

Sorry to but in on the orignal post but I'm trying to get answers to my questions and not many people can tell me.

Cheers
Dave

Thanks guys for your help, its really appreciated, but i need one last favour

Could one of you lucky Serie's One owners post a pic of your cylinder head close up, it dosent have to be off the car i just need a close up of the front of one like the pic above

If not can someone tell me whether any RS turbo had a cylinder head which had 'cross hatching' ( like # ) across the front between the spark plug holes, and across the back.

Mine has this you see, its a bit of a mystery as i was shown another RS1600i head which didnt have this, and was told that mine could possibly be a RST head?????

Ill get some pics up tomorrow, the annoying thing is at the moment i havent got the head on me, its still at Burtons where it failed a crack test but ill get it back tomorrow as i need to sort this out

Is this the picture angle you wanted?

It's the standard head of a -85 S1.
