Default Fast Tickover

Just been out in my series two rst, its been in the garage for a month while i've been doing some bits to it
When i'm pulling up and junctions and putting my foot on the clutch the engine is racing its ticking over at about 2500 revs, does anyone have any ideas, its a D reg 87 Full service history 178 BHP running 15 psi boost, any thoughts would be greatly appriciated.

I think my battery may be a bit shafted mate i'm gonna change it for a heavy duty diesel one and see if it makes a difference otherwise its check for air leaks and the see if the cold start valve is sticking. What do ya think?
