Default Fuel Pump Relay Issue

need some help with this, cant figure out what it may be ive tried everything.
well connected up all wires and relays correctly came to start the engine and there was no noise for the fuel pump priming (new bosch pump fitted), all wires are connected properly as ive checked the pump manually.
the car turns but it does not start, there is fuel coming at the metering unit as i unscrewed the pipe to check it.
my main concern is ive changed the relay around with a different one (same type but from another car) and on ignition it does not prime like it should do.
can someone please shed some light as i spent a good three hours trying to sort it out with no joy

that is a difficult one, only thing i can thing of (kind of stupid)
if you say that all the wires are in place for 100% and the pump and relay are working a 100% the try to over pass the relay, open the fuse box and wire the wires between the relay and directly to the wires of the pump...

i suggest you have an electrician on standby...
good luck and plz post results...

ive tried two different relays and had no luck, would it have anything to do with the ecu and maybe the new fuel pump?

Doubt it, the fuel relay controls the prime...if its the pink/purple S2 relays then I wouldnt be surprised if both are fucked....

when the key is turned (before starting) does the power go directly to the relay and then the pump, im thinking if there could be a fault in the circuit somewhere. this may sound a bit weird but when i took the relay out with the key in position 0, and put the relay back in half way the pump primed, pushed it in all the way and then turned the key but no noise from pump. what could this indicate?

ok gets even weirder now and annoying when the keys are taken out the ignition, the lights on dash are on (battery etc) you can operate the fan and everything else thats works WHEN the only the keys are in and 2 turns of the key.
have i connected the wires to the battery incorrectly you think? theres the thick black one that gose to negative, then i have about 7 other wires goin to the positive (three brown ones, two black ones, two other black ones for the alarm and the thick red starter wire) i got a gut feeling that these wires are connected up wrong

Right........what have you done to the fuel pump relay wiring and why.

Straight away from what you're saying about the dash lights i can tell you that you've wired something wrong and its back-feeding the ignition circuits...........

yes mate that was the cause of a whole days worth of swapped the wires around and sorted the problem out, both relays were fine in this case, just put the wiring the wrong way around on battery, clever me hay lol. everything seems to be fine, apart from the idle of the car is rough and lumpy, but thats prob due the actuator i changed. need to have it checked and tuned now.
thanks for the help guys

Default fuel pump

you've fowled up the plugs (flooded the engine) whilst trying to start it for 2 days with the battery terminals on the wrong way

oh well at least it was a cheap fix and no other problems occured due to this, well done for finding the mistake and best of luck with getting it running good mate. Check all your fuses etc. are still o.k

The plugs should soon clear up with a bit of warmth in the engine though!

I doubt its that, probably missed a pipe off somewhere and have a small airleak.

i checked the plugs and noticed that there quite wet (ovefuelling i assume) i am going to take the car to be tuned due to new actuator and fuel pump fitted, but im a bit worried whilst driving it with the plugs wet like that and hestitation on acceleration i may well just **** the engine up. excuse my french. any ideas?

Have you had the engine up to operating temperature since?

safechav yes i let it run for 20 mins but stil they were wet

gambit gez i need to make sure it doesnt mess up the engine before i get it their

ive turned the boost right down, but when giving it some gas its quite hesitant and sometimes even stalls if i dont give it enough, mayb its an idea just to have it towed or trailered down

Very wierd. I cant help but think maybe you've damaged your fuelling ecu by connecting that wire wrong.

What happens if you pull the plug off for the EMFPA when its idling?
