right then lets see.
you need to take the rockers off, lifters out, cam belt off, pulley off, and dizzy off. you might need to take the airbox off if running mfi as the cam shaft won't clear this. also don't forget the thrust plate at the pulley end. once this lots off you should be able to slide it out from the dizzy end. if it gets stuck then just gently wiggle it about and it should free up.
as for running in it's recommended that you hold the revs between 2500 and 3000 if i remember correctly for about twentyfive mins, but can't quite remember so don't quote me on that.
as for the cam pulley bolt, pretty sure the torque setting is 44lb ft. remember to use some thread lock on it as well to avoid it coming out.
hope that helps pal

just squirting some oil down the bores is supposed to be enough but i tend to smear a liberal coating of cam lube onto the lifters just to make sure. as for doing anything, you can just put them in as is. so long as you torque the rocker arms down properly then they should be fine. mine are lovely and quiet and thats all i did. one thing to note is that when you first fire her up the top end will sound fucking shocking till the lifters fill with oil so don't worry if it's really noisy at first. only start worrying if the noise doesn't go away.

as above but think they're around twenty two lbs ft. would love to check for ya but i'm in iraq one other thing, use new nuts unless you know the run down torque setting for them, which is something the haynes manual doesn't tell you.

ive put my new cam in, was running it in and after about aprox 15mins, POP! oil everywhere round by the bell housing on top and underneath and a puddle on the floar, this sound like the rear main oil seal has gone?
was this maybe long enough to bed the cam in?

this is wierd, started her up today to see if it would run, started ok, cam must be run cos its quiet, and no dripping oil underneath, i checked the dipstick and the oil hasnt dropped either she runs fine coolant level is ok aswell
i had a puddle under there yesterday, and the top of the housing use to be caked in black oil but you can see the silver now lol
think the oil puddle must have be the caked up stuff thats melted off onto the floar from the heat of bedding the cam in?
i cant really see where else it could have come from, turbo's clean around the impeller, oil return isnt leaking,
really wierd

yeh i just checked that, i removed the coil pack and bracket and ran the car up and dried that area off and nothing came through, i just went up the road and left oil drops on the drive but duno if this was excess from before
its dry around the oil filter at the back aswell
are there any other oil pipes on the rear of the block?

if i had to much crank case pressure when i ran the cam in, wouldnt the dipstick or oil filler cap blow off before other things start blowing?
i tip some oil over the new lifters, wonder if the engine just blew the excess oil out from somewhere? that sound normal for a cvh ?

If there was excessive crankcase pressure then it would find the easiest route out and this is usually by popping the oil cap or dipstick out. If the rear main had come out there would be a lot of oil leaking below this area.
If you removed the dizzy blanking plug to get the cam out are you sure its not just oil that has come from there?

SORTED, it WAS the blanking plug for camshaft, the oil was chucking out when you floar it, couldnt see it on idle, had to go down the road with the coil pack unbolted to find this out
