If there was excessive crankcase pressure then it would find the easiest route out and this is usually by popping the oil cap or dipstick out. If the rear main had come out there would be a lot of oil leaking below this area.

If you removed the dizzy blanking plug to get the cam out are you sure its not just oil that has come from there?
