Default refreshing paintwork.

was just wondering if getting the paintwork freshened up on the car would put a potential buyer off buying a escos(im not selling it) as it would have had paint. the reason im saying is im getting the bonnet done as there are stone chips and a scratch on it. and also while its in the body shop i enquired about the wings(them little stone chips just behind the side lights) so does it make my car a better car or another escos which as had paint and people thinking it as had paint for maybe a more sinister reason than just freshening it up. would you lot get your cars freshened up??

nout wrong with keeping the bodywork in mint condition anybody who knows there stuff when buying one will see through that its had paintwork its new panels and poor accident repairs that put people off and if a bit of paint is there reason for not buying a car when well there never find 1 which hasnt had paint unless there looking for the impossible. ive had mine painted in places and redone again after stonechips id rather keep on top of my paintwork a few quid each year for a bit of a refresh is nothing to worry about get it done

I was in the same situation when I was looking at buying one. Of the 2 options I'd rather have a car that has had paint to get it back to as new a condition as possible than one with scratches & stone chips.

All this keep it original is for people who don't drive the dam things so never get stone chips. I bought the car to drive not just to look at.

As long as its a good job I would see no reason to be put off.

I always find it strange how people arn't put off when the car they're viewing has had new, gearbox, steering rack, suspension, general maintenance etc yet shy away from a car thats had paint! Why? Surely its a sign that the owner wanted to keep the car in tip top condition? And lets be fair, with the state of our roads its hard to find a car that hasn,'t had or needed a front end tidy up.

Doesnt bother me as long as the owner is open and honest about it from the start, and its had it done due to stone chips or a scratch, and not accident damage. Its when they blantently say its all original paint when its covered in over spray and bad repairs that puts me off.

Ill never forget when i was looking for a corsa for the girlfriend, and i turned up a couple of hours early to view and he had it in the garage messing around with it. I looked around it and asked if it had had any paint that he knows of as i saw some white over spray on the sills. He said no its all original and NEVER had paint. I bent down for a closer look, wiped the over spray and it came off in my hand as it was still wet!!!! As i was getting back up, thats when i noticed the white overspray on his shoes!!!!

Mines had a full respray before i bought it,Being a perfectionist i wasnt happy with it so had bonnet, front bumper and drivers wing done to remove stone chips as was pepperred in them ( got me the car cheaper too as i bartered with the dealer because of that ) Also had the tailgate painted as bottom spoiler had rubbed on the boot causing it to rust badly!!

Dont feel bad about it though as its now better than factory IMHO ( apart from my new chip but will soon be back to top standard )

I am currently looking and i would not be put off by a car that had been painted to clear up scratches and stonechips, so long as the job that was done was top quality. Id only be bothered if it was accident repaired using filler, etc and obviously if the repainted panels werent a good match

well the body shop phoned today to say the car is ready to be picked up, they painted my bumper last year wich was well above what i expected so hopefully it will be mint. had the 2 wings and bonnet done this time. chips were behind the side lights and the obvious stone chips on the bonnet just pleased the roofers are paying for it, well they did scratch it. you should have seen the guys face when he had to phone his boss up to tell him he had scratched my escos.

what's holding me back, is either do the whole car or just leave as it is. The shade is never going to match if just doing one panel.
