i have converted my car to wasted spark ( coil pack )

but now the OE rev counter shows half engine speed , how have any of you got round this, dont want to fit aftermarket gauge ????

 

ring STU at MSD, he has a converter box for it to rectify the Tacho

Or just fit a RS2000 / XR3i rev counter mechanism

 

i have tryed that one, did not work and MSD have not replied to my email so spoke to some one @ MSD and cant help ??? converter box?????

( dials was from a late 1.8 XR3i )

 

worked on mine!!!

you cant use the original green trigger wire though, you have to use one wire direct from pin 1 (IIRC) of one of the ign amps alone

I though with the dizzy you get 2 pulses each turn and only one with the coilpack as you have two amps.. and that's why the tach shows only half the real engine speed??? (as the tach is plug from the - of the coil from factory)

 

yes am sure mate, remember I'm using a coil packed car tacho

 

I've not doubt of you're running coil pack... just on the tach's wiring

No i mean I am running a tacho from a car which had a coil pack ... not the Dizzy tacho...

 

I am also looking into this, the rev counter that works, does it have to be from a RS2000 or XR3i or will one from a Mk5 coil pack car work?

Also what car is the coil pack from Mk5 cars?

Has any one got any pics of this fitting placement of the coil pack?
