Default 1.8 zetec turbo

i'm just in the middle of getting the bits together to build my self a zetec turbo and before i get there i'm just curious if some one might know a rough power figure if all goes well ?

it will be a 1.8 130ps engine using a decompression plate and fiesta turbo inlet manifold and ecu running std boost (8psi!!!)on a t3

as 180 to 190 would be all i'm looking for or am i being to hopeful?

Default Zetec turbo

Hi

180bhp sounds about right with 8psi.

I am doing the same conversion to my car. But have a 195bhp chip and a set of beiges and a Pace intercooler. Looking for around 200bhp.
I am only doing it for the look and not the power.

Have you seen this site? http://www.zetec-turbo.co.uk/

Best get in touch with Tony for you Decom Plate there the NUTs

Made my own adaptor plats for the Inlet.

It’s all good fun

cheers for that m8
i got my decompression plate from mad-for-it performance as there only Ł30 ish
and it checks out pretty good against a std head gasket
i too am making the adaptor plates my self a already have the inlet sandwich plate made and have nearly finished the head adaptor plate too.
I'm going to be using a converted xr2i loom and a std ofab ecu with a cossie mapsensor so if i can get 180bhp i'll be well chuffed with that as a std starting point but we'll see
like you say its more about the looks than the power and theres no one around here with a zetec turbo and i mean no one

Default decompression plate

Hi I got a decompression plate from mad-for-it as well and all I can say is it was so wrong it was unreal.
It dose look good against the head gasget but when you put it in to Pos on the block Its all wrong. And the Pistion hole size is to big. The plate is to small width ways as well.
Its the same plate they sell for the ZVH convertion.
Check it out if i was you.

That is unless they have changed it since then.

that looks really close to what i've made for mine only i didnt profile the out side of the head adaptor plate and mine aint tapped yet coz me m8 drilled all the holes clearance dohhhh!
so i'll heli-coil them to fix it.
Mine are both made out of 10mm plate is this the same as yours just i want to double check everything as i go so i dont have to remake anything at the last minute as it about to go in the car .
The reason the decompression plate was out, was because they are designed for the 2.0 as i took this up with them once i got mine as the 1.8 gasket wouldnt seal if i assembled it, so he told me to use the 2.0 gasket instead this might be why it was out?????
Any way on another topic i have been informed of a lad locally that put a 1.9 bottomend in his fiesta turbo and put cossie yellow injectors in too compensate but it was forever in and out of various rolling road bays getting the fuel pressure re-checked and re-adjusted and it would never run right .
eventually this was put down to the yellows being to big????
and being told that he needs pectel managment to get it to run right
does this sound feasable as i know of a 175 bhp xr2i that was running yellows and was a feature car in maxpower a few years back and its on the net somewhere and all it had done on the managment side of things was a superchip
so does it look like i need to get beige injectors and scrap off the yellows idea or do you think it will run as the yellows are only Ł20 and beiges are a little bit more expensive
also what is the limit of beige injectors in bhp???

http://www.jamesw.plus.com/fiestas/
its listed under the gallery and under magazine featured cars under max power
its a 1.8 cvh with passat pistons running renault 21 turbo yellow injectors (cossie ones as far as i know??) with about 175 bhp

Hi

I used 12mm alloy plate for my plates (your 10mm should be fine) and you can’t see it in the picture but the inlet plate is profiled out to the inlet holes on the head and the inlet holes on the head are ported to match the plate.
Sounds funny but it's there to help the air flow.

I would like to see Rossie's Throttle body go on with no raising plate.

Not sure about the yellows. IV got 701 beiges and a 195 chip and an OFAB ECU. The main aim to get it to run with STD blue's and No chip then get it sorted after it has need run in.
If you’re going for FRST management then try for OFAB as it can run a 3bar map and re-programmed.

Still not sure about your decompression plate but time will tell.

hello there again...
well as it goes i'm not going to be far off what you have as this is what i have to date:

a 1.8 130ps zetec engine

a fiesta rs turbo inlet manifold

a xr2i wiring loom (but converted to fiesta turbo)

a std ofab ecu

a std cossie map sensor

4 std 2wd cossie yellow injectors

a std t3 turbo and exhaust manifold

both adaptor plates

and a pace intercooler

so not to far off being on me way to getting sumit sorted.

next question about your adaptor plate are you just assembling the engine with 1 adaptor plate and 1 head gasket or are you using 2 head gaskets and skimming the thinkness of the second headgasket off the head as that is what mad-for-it advised me to do as a fail safe method of assembly as they told me that if i wanted to only use 1 head gasket then i would most probably need the top of the block re-facing to guarantee a good solid seal any thoughts on this???
as they told me that they have to test out there products before selling them and they used this method on there ahem test car and said they basically kept on whinding the boost up giving it a couple of laps and then up and up and up until they hit 20psi and blew a piston however neither head gasket went aparrently so they put another 1.8 in and set the boost to 18psi and set it up on the rollers and got quite a shock as the car was in the region of 250 to 260 bhp i'm not so sure my self but i suppose its possible coz a stage 1 cossie is in that kinda territory at that sort of boost too????

Default Zetec Turbo

Hi Again

Only one gasket needed with the plate I have.

As you can see the plate matches the head gasket right on.

This one shows the gasket on top of the plate.
Cost Ł100 and you may say that’s pricey but it’s the best there is at the mo

Also got a pot of brown stuff (Have not got a clue what it is) that goes between the block and plate to bond/stick it.

Ferd

Ho yes what are you putting it in?

LOOKS LIKE YOU HAVE ALL THE BITS TO MAKE A GOOD GO OF IT MATE?

BUT HERES A BIT OF A TURN UP FOR THE BOOKS I FOUND A "JAMSPORT" TUNED FORD KA WITH A 1.6 CVH TURBO ENGINE IN IT WITH 220 BHP RUNNING STD COSSIE INJECTORS

SO IT LOOKS LIKE I MIGHT BE ON TO A WINNER WITH ME IDEA AFTER ALL

OHHHHHHH AND I MUST PUT A PICTURE OF WHAT I HAVE ON HERE AT SOME POINT

Gavin,
just a couple of points about the decompression plate -
the plate needs to be a tidy fit on the block dowels to stop it moving around, the plate needs to behave like an extension of the block if the headgasket is going to have a chance of working properly.

Think very carefully about fitting two gaskets - unless you get very lucky and/or aren't using much boost, it's only a matter of time before one of the gaskets fails.. IMO the plate and two gasket assembly has too much 'give' and the potential to let the plate move around too much, and the gasket will eventually fail. Speak to Matt-SAB for example, he had that arrangement on his S1 with a Madforit plate, and replaced it with a single gasket after it blew..

I don't think it's a great idea to have the plate/gasket larger than the bore either, as you can imagine, this leaves a cavity round the cylinder, between the block and head, which will create a relatively cold 'trap' for fuel/air mixture, upsetting the combustion process and emmissions due to it not burning properly.
