Right, im quite sick of the noise of the dump valve
however, when i asked Stu a whileback to remove the dumpvalve, he confirmed that the standard dump valve had been removed so advised not to take it off.
Is there a 'silent' dump valve i could buy? As i quite like the sound of loud as fcuk chatter!!

No i it wont damage the turbo, unless you are running a high boost T34 or a T4.
I believe the reason they were originally fitted was for Homolagation reasons and
to rid the noise of the chatter............

I don't use 1,got sick of it,and the "chatter" sounds much nicer IMO. Apparently it's got fook all to do with the wastegate tho,it's the air getting chopped up or something clever.

When I removed my dump valve it killed the turbo !!!
It was a 450 bhp roller bearing turbo and it bent the shaft.
It happened between gear changes on low boost.
Completely my fault for listening to bad advice

ford didnt fit them just for fun, ive fitted a piston recirc type on the cold side then reconnected it to the intake hose as in a rs500 set up, doesnt sound too bad at all now

eh? wastegates to control boost, which is owt to do with the function of a DV.
Anyone know if the standard re-circ on the Focus can be removed?! I've got a cone filter + you can hear it pretty loudly, wonder if I could get chatter?!
If so where's the best place to get blanking plugs?? Central day?!
Cheers Lewis but don't worry about it. Want to get conformation/some elses experience if it's safe/possible on the FRS first, then I'm sure they're only a few quid from Rainbird!
hi all, i normally dont even look at posts reguardin dump valves, as im sick of all the peeps talking crap
iv had one of stus dv on for years and never had any probs or damage
the simple fact is if it dident have one fitted a standard its up to you weather u fit one or not..simple
or if you have erst fit one of stus electronic box,s ..and dont fit anodised
i talked to the guys at castle about it and he said d/v were first thought of by ford, and said when collin mcrae was rallyin thay were devised so he cud change gear faster.. thus gettin rid of the back pressure and bein able to change gear faster
so people should look into why thay were first invented!!! instead of slaging them off, if you dont like them take it off, or if it was made with it on you should leave it on and not vent to atmosphere
whitch is what ford did
i have a switch on my erst and can turn it off or on , and i think it deff goes thru the gears better with it ON!!!
