Looks good mate, would have been better with proper trumpets that weren't on the floor of the plenum etc. but it certainly looks like it will do a better job than fords effort

i agree , would be hard to flow as poorly as the fiesta one fitted to the zetec.

i would of wanted the runners at the same angle as the ports tho and not square onto the flange but looks good

We did speak about the runners being the same angle as the ports but the flange needed altering so he left it... Whats the advantage of raised trumpets?

Overall I'm very pleased, specially for Ł150!

the raised trumpets are to do with air flow and distribution to help sort out the problem of even distribution when on side fed inlets i think

150 is sweet mate . There isn't massive flow around the edges of a manifold. Do some reading about lamina flow if your interested, and Reynolds number. With a viscous liquid flow in a pipe is said to range from zero at the pipe walls to a maximum at the pipe centre. Obviously air isn't a viscous liquid but the same rules apply. Flow is less at the manifold floor and sides and far greater nearer the centre. Hence the use of velocity stacks. interesting stuff really.

Funny enough Rob I did just do some reading and found exactly that! lol
But yeah for the money it's spot on, it will flow far better than the old EFI one and I can close my fucking bonnet again!!! lol

Looks quite good- even better when you consider Ł150!
It will certainly be miles ahead of the factory piece - and fit under the bonnet.

It will be interesting to take a read of the spark plugs after a wide open throttle run.
This will tell you how evenly the runners flow.
I believe you can adjust individual injector timing for each cylinder if one or two look leaner than others?

Cheers!!

Only if he upgrades to fully sequential injection, the injector timing also stays the same its just a trim for injector duty.

I agree with Perry tho, it would be a wise test to do, when mine makes a come back (aka, when im not so lazy!) it will be with fully sequential and an EGT probe on each cylinder for this exact reason.

Rob,
Thanks Perry thats a good idea!

What do you need to do to get yours back on the road Rob?
Individual EGT's awesome! You'll be able to map that to within an inch of it's life!! lol
What is your target BHP now then, thats a lot of hardware for your average 250bhp build?

someone has put the idea of a water cooled plenum in me head

that sounds interesting

well my water injection never turns on so guess its overkill but sounds real cool

I'm not sure on power tbh it depends on what turbo I go for I guess. High 200's for sure tho, I'd rather have something that's responsive and drives like its oem than chase figures. But the individual egt's aren't too expensive and will help me set up the trim values for the seq injection etc I've just got my deka's to fit then it's drivable again but it will get manifolds, turbo, cam and a new loom before next summer, just need to free up some time to spend on it!

You fitted your shiny new manifold yet?

Don't mate, waste of time.

Unless it has its own dedicated rad its pointless, using engine coolant will do the oposite of what you want.

Your water injection will be doing 10X (at least) what a water cooled inlet manifold will do, if you need a little more cooling use meth instead of water.

Agreed, could have just done what I did with my clio inlet:

Can get more radius onto them that way.

Fair play, sounds like it will be a nice example of a high power RST when it's done!

Not yet no, just waiting on FPR to arrive then I'll get it on!

I wouldnt worry, them tig welds look pretty hot to me... Besides the weld is stronger than the parent metal and if done properly 2-3bar of boost pressure wouldn't pose a weld any threat whatsoever! When you consider compressor tanks are welded and run anything from 5-25bar!

Karlos - That looks pretty awesome, i mean Ł150 is that a joke?
Plenty of vac take offs for practicality too!
Why the cossie tb - They a big diameter for more flow?

The problem with ally welded sheet metal plenums is the welds fatigue over time, seen it happen on a lot of YB swedish plenums etc.

They can take massive boost no problem, but cant take it continually fluctuating in use, the pulses cause fatigue.

Yeah it's cheap so whilst it may not be perfect, pound for pound it's a great inlet!
Cossie TB was just what we choose to use, no reason really, don't know if it's bigger than a RST one either?! lol But... it does have an intergrated ICV which makes things easier.

I don't disagree with what your saying, and the following pics are just for discussion rather than to say Karlos's intake is no good. For the price I think its cock on.

All the CFD I have seen suggests that raised trumpets work best for the first cylinder.... I have seen some CFD for a very similar manifold to yours which I will try and find again.... this however used raised trumpets as well as a larger cross section by entry to lower gas speed which you have done. The results looked good.
