Question Zetec cams fitted wrong way round

Ive picked up a 2.1 zetec silver top unfinished project to place in my cossy managed 1.8 escort gti. I got the build back to my garage to finish off and when I came to time in the cams I noticed they had been fitted the wrong way round. I had already rotated the engine to see if if was turning smoothly and it seemed fine. I am now wondering if any serious damage may have happened to the valves due to the cams being fitted the wrong way round when the engine was rotated?

Can anybody give me some good news or is this likely to be a head strip down?

Get them in the right way round and turn it over by hand, see how it feels. if it feels ok see if it will run. If it does then Id do a quick compression check to make sure all is good.

Yep! Lobe on the cam was on the opposite side to the sensor hole in the cylinder head. engine seems to turn free so fingers crossed there's no damage!

It will be fine, they are very soft cams, so plenty of clearance, so long as dialled in with keyways on rear will be ok no trouble.

Do you mean by 'dillaed in' by the cam locking tool in the rear of the cams? Also the cams are Ian Howels profile (UNDER 400BHP type).
Many Thanks!

Yes by locking tool, didn't realise they were uprated jobbies, could be different depends how much lift they have.

They are (Inlet) 260/400 and (Exhaust) 240/300 profiles or the FFMZT 1 as advertised on Ians site.
